TRITONS IMPORTANT END OF SEASON INFO
Tritons families,
I hope everyone enjoyed what remained of the summer after we concluded our season a month ago! I’d like to reflect briefly on our accomplishments this year and lay the groundwork for preparations for next year.
Although we didn’t win an A meet this season, I’d like to put this into perspective. NVSL is nationally recognized as being highly competitive and there were 11 other NVSL teams besides ours that ended with a 0 and 5 record. We lost our last meet to Rutherford by one relay event and without the benefit of two of our fastest swimmers. Our swimmers demonstrated consistent and continual improvement throughout the season. Of our swimmers aged 7-14 we had twenty improve their overall swim times by a factor of 10 – 31 percent. In the 15-18 year-old range, we had four swimmers drop their times by between 5 and 6.8 percent which is equally impressive. We came in third place among 6 teams at the relay carnival which is great reflection of the determination and teamwork of our swimmers!
I’m extremely proud of what our swimmers accomplished this summer with the help of our parent volunteers whomake the practices, meets and events happen. I’m also very thankful for our dedicated coaching staff led by Coach Kathleen Winston which is the driving force behind theimprovements our kids have made.
The even greater reward is in the friendships and sense of community our kids develop by participating in a team dedicated to personal growth and achievement. Those of you who witnessed the joy our kids experienced at the end of the season pool party know what I’m talking about!
While the season is still fresh in our minds, I’d like to suggest some ways you can help us build on these accomplishments while preparing for next summer:

2) Please use this survey to indicate your preferences regarding any committee positions you are interested in next year.
3) Provide continuity and guidance. We would like to fill at least two Board of Directors positions in September. These will be filled by a majority vote of the general membership at our general membership meeting to be held from 7-8 PM on 17 September 2026 at the Laurel Hill Community Clubhouse. Voting can be in person or via electronic means in advance of the meeting. To self-nominate for one of these positions please send a short bio/statement of desire that can be sent to our membership to [email protected] before 8 September.
4) Represent our team. We also need a team representative to act as a bridge between parents, coaches and swimmers. This is a challenging but also very rewarding volunteer position. If you would like to know more about this opportunity, please contact Jen Talarico at (904) 874-7366.
5) Attend our 17 September general membership meeting to get your questions answered, provide feedback and vote for our new board of directors members.
6) Consider enrolling your swimmers in our Winter Swim program. This will assist them in retaining the gains they made this season and keep them engaged with the sport. If you register for the fall session at our website LHTritons.org by 1 September, we can guarantee a rate of $150.00 per swimmer. Practices are weekly on Saturdays from 7-8 PM.
7) Consider enrolling your swimmers in a year-round club program. If you would like information or advice from parents who have experience with club swimming, please email us at [email protected] and we’ll have an experienced parent contact you.
Categories where we need the most help are 8 and under boys and girls, 13-14 girls and 15-18 boys but we have plenty of room to grow in all categories.
